Support Services - Home Attendant Program

Home Attendant Image
In 1981, the Foundation was awarded a contract by the New York City Human Resources Administration to administer a long-term care Home Attendant Program for 400 frail, Medicaid-eligible seniors. To meet the growing needs of this group, the program has expanded to serve more than 800 seniors.

Under the Home Attendant Program, the Foundation's registered nurses and social workers visit seniors at home - to asses their needs and to supervise the more than 1,000 home attendants the Foundation employs to meet their needs. Home attendants are trained by Foundation staff to perform daily tasks such as health-related personal care, housekeeping, shopping, cooking and accompanying seniors to medical appointments.
