Housing Alternatives - Transitional Housing and Social Services for the Homeless: George Daly House

George Daly HouseGeorge Daly House
The Foundation's first transitional housing for homeless men and women ages 45 and older is located on East Fourth Street in Manhattan.

Located on Manhattan's Lower East Side, George Daly House provides a short-term housing alternative to the City's shelters. Housed in some 88 single and double- occupancy rooms, men and women residents benefit from a variety of individual and group services. The atmosphere is upbeat and positive, helping residents to be more constructive in their lives. Assistance ranges from personal finance classes, resume workshops, and dealing with landlords, to cooking instruction and improving self- esteem. Residents can access appropriate social services and financial assistance, and receive medical and psychiatric attention. They are also linked up with self-help organizations such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. The ultimate objective of George Daly House? To help residents get back on their feet and return to permanent housing in the larger community.
